Proof of address in Portugal — and how to change your morada
Lots of Portuguese admin asks for a comprovativo de morada (proof of address). What counts: a recent utility bill, a registered rental contract, a bank statement, or an atestado de residência from your local Junta de Freguesia.
Morada fiscal: your official tax address at Finanças — many services check this one specifically.
When you move, update your address in more than one place: your morada fiscal at Finanças (online on the Portal das Finanças), Segurança Social, and — importantly — on your residence card with AIMA. The address on a Citizen Card or residence permit is updated at a Loja de Cidadão / IRN counter.
Keep one recent proof handy as a PDF — you'll be asked for it when opening accounts, registering with the health centre, or at your AIMA appointment. If a landlord won't register the rental contract, that's a red flag: an unregistered contract weakens both your legal protection and your proof of address.
