Re-locant.com · Cosmic Vortex · ECO · Aug 7, 2026

On 7 August the President asked the Constitutional Court for preventive review of parliament's decree on granting asylum, detention and the return of foreigners — Decree 105/XVII, approved with votes from PSD, IL and CDS-PP. Eleven provisions were referred. The President pointed to doubts over whether the solutions adequately protect family life and the best interests of the child. Until the court rules, the decree cannot be promulgated.
