€970 minimum wage in 2027: higher D7 and D8 income bar
The Government's 2027 budget presentation (8 October) says the national minimum wage goes up to €970 in 2027, from €920 in 2026. The amount itself is set by a separate decree; the 2026 value was fixed by a decree of 29 December 2025, so the 2027 one is expected around the end of this year, to apply from 1 January. Two visas are tied to it. For visas based on means of subsistence, such as the D7 for pensioners and people living on passive income, the Foreign Ministry's visa site uses the minimum wage as the reference: 100% for the first adult, 50% for each further adult and 30% for each child. At €970 that is €970 a month for one person and €1,455 for a couple (now €920 and €1,380). For the remote work visa, often called D8, you must show average monthly income over the last 3 months of at least four minimum wages: €3,880 at €970, against €3,680 now.
Why it matters for your move
If you will apply after 1 January 2027, plan with €970 and keep a margin above the bar. If your income is close to it, ask your consulate or visa centre which value it will use on the day you apply.
