AIMA: new president announced, appointments after strike

Re-locant.com · Cosmic Vortex · The Portugal News · Oct 7, 2026

Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro told a parliamentary committee on 7 October that AIMA will have a new president: César Teixeira, a lawyer who already sits on AIMA's board, replacing Pedro Portugal Gaspar, as reported by Lusa. The appointment has not yet been published in the Diário da República, and AIMA's own website still lists Gaspar as president and Teixeira as a board member. On 6 October AIMA staff held the 24-hour national strike called by the STM union. AIMA put participation at 11.31% at midday (94 of 831 workers); the union said several offices did not serve the public, naming Avenida de França in Porto, Odivelas and Faro, with only partial service at Anjos in Lisbon. Both accounts are as reported by Lusa.

Why it matters for your move

If your appointment on 6 October was at an office that closed, AIMA said, as reported by Lusa, that it will send the new date to the email address used for the booking, with nothing for you to do. If no email has come, check your spam folder and keep the original booking confirmation.
